Legal changes as of July 1, 2017

As of July 1, 2017, a number of important (legal) changes will take place again. The most important are the amendment of the Working Conditions Act and the increase of the minimum wage.

Working Conditions Act

The Working Conditions Act has been adjusted as of July 1, 2017 to involve employers and employees more in occupational health services. From tomorrow, employers must have a basic contract with the occupational health service provider which states, among other things, that the employee has the right to request a second opinion from an independent company doctor, that the company doctor must be able to visit the workplace, that the company doctor may consult with the Works Council, and that he will have more advisory duties.

Minimum wage law

The minimum wage increases from €1,551.60 to €1,565.40 gross per month. The minimum youth wage is also revised as of July 1, 2017. From this date, the general minimum wage applies from the age of 22, instead of from 23.
